What’s Involved?
The first stage of getting your perfect pout is the consultation. This is usually done on the day of treatment, but if you prefer to have it on a separate day this can certainly be arranged.
During your consultation, we will discuss in detail your desired result, taking into consideration the best shape and colour for you. (We recommend you bring your favourite lipstick or lip pencil to your appointment so we can see the colour you like to wear).
Next we photograph your lips before applying numbing cream.
After the numbing cream has had time to take effect, we will design your lip shape and dab your chosen colour onto your lip for you to check and approve. As with all our procedures this is a two-way discussion between you and ourselves, to get you your perfect set of lips.
Your first treatment session will take around 2-3 hours to complete, with a second session carried out 6 weeks after. By spacing your treatment across two stages, we can see how your lip heals and holds the pigment and any adjustments can then be made on your second appointment.
When treatment is complete, we take pictures of your new lips and go through aftercare with you, giving your aftercare instructions and cream to take home with you.
The colour will be much more intense immediately after treatment but will soften by around 50% during healing to a beautiful soft, natural-looking flush of colour.
Your lips may be swollen and sensitive but this will subside over the next 12-24 hours.
The Retouch / Second Session
All new treatments are carried out in 2 stages so we can see how your lips heal and holds the pigment.
During the retouch session, we will make any necessary adjustments to the colour and check the lip shape again.
Your retouch appointment should take around 1-2 hours.
The pigments we use to create your beautiful brows are formulated to gradually soften and fade over time so that as you age, we have the flexibility to be able to adapt the pigment colour and shape of your brows to suit any changes in your facial features, skin tone and natural hair colour.
When you feel that you are having to maintain the colour of your brows more and more with makeup, it’s probably time for you to come and see Vicky to have your colour refreshed.
The best colour boost results can be achieved when your previous treatment by Vicky has faded a good 50% or more – we need there to be room in your skin for new pigment to be added. Cold sore sufferers should embark on a course of anti-viral cold sore medication prescribed from a doctor prior to starting their treatment and make their technician aware of this. (Note: if you have EVER had a cold sore, we strongly recommend you follow this advice, even if you have not had a cold sore for a long time)
Lip treatments cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore.
Darker skin tones may not be suitable for permanent lip treatments due to the inherent risks associated with tattooing melanin rich lips, such as hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.
